San Juan High School
The San Juan High School master plan incorporates the modernization of the existing comprehensive high school curriculum into an academy for career technical education including the pathways of Culinary Arts and Media Broadcast/ Performing Arts. This includes the development of a brand new 10,000 SF Culinary Arts building, complete with a state-of-the-art culinary kitchen, bakery, lecture hall and a community restaurant, Wing (16,000 SF), and the renovation of the school’s existing Performing Arts Theatre (10,500 SF) and music wing to a new Media / Broadcast Studio for student use (6,500 SF). Other projects include a new Campus Front Door building (5,000 SF) and extensive streetscape improvements to bring back the school’s rich historical vocabulary, while improving the aesthetics to encourage new enrollment in the campus. Future phases of the master plan include the development of a Student Union and formal student quads, focused on student gathering and interaction. The master plan, in all phases, is expected to be complete by August 2013, the school’s centennial celebration.
